When International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) director Mohamed ElBaradei reported to UN that Iran had facilities to enrich Uranium, Washington was the first country to condemn Tehran. The verbal assault to Tehran included the now infamous words, ‘Axis of Evil’, while at the same time openly seeking support among the UN members to impose economics sanctions and even military action against Iran.

Washington’s main reason for their reaction was that Iran will use the facilities to produce nuclear weapons, thus poses an imminent threat to the free world. Simply put a nuclear capable Iran is something which the Bush administration doesn’t want to see in the near future.

The decision whether Iran wants to build a nuclear weapon or not, solely rest on the hands of Tehran. As a free sovereign country, it has its own right to defend itself from outside threat.

Why then Washington’s hysterical reactions?

The western popular media keeps on portraying Iran, as the mad murderous mullah with saliva dripping from their mouth like a rapid dog, that Iran will start dotting spot on the map once they are nuclear capable and starts launching their Shahabs here and there, ending the human race. But if we were to look back to history, the only country that ever dropped an atom bomb is America.

America has been harassing Iran since 1950s. Using CIA, America had orchestrated the oust of a democratically elected president, Mohammad Moussadegh in 1951, when he nationalised Iranian oil company, at that time known as ‘Anglo-Iranian Oil Company’, later renamed BP.

After the coup, America had put into power their puppet leader, Mohammed Shah Reza, the tyrannical leader that was responsible in the killing of thousands of Iranians during his reign with the use of his ‘Gestapo’ – SAVAK (they were CIA trained). Their puppet leader was then overthrown by an exiled mullah by the name of Ayatollah Khomeini in the Iran Revolution in 1979.

After the Shah was dethroned, Iran was in chaos. It was almost defend less as the Iranian army was disbanded, as some of them were still loyal to the ousted Shah. Saddam Hussein, taking advantage of the situation (he boasted that his tanks can roll into Tehran in just three days) invaded Iran. It was no secret that America had played a major role in helping Saddam Hussein during the Iran-Iraq war. America supplied Saddam with weaponry and intelligence. It was America who also armed the Iraqi army with chemical weapon that had poisoned many Iranian soldiers (and some Iraqi soldiers as well).

All this time America was harassing Iran but one act of revenge by the Iranian students in 1979, in seizing the American Embassy and its staff for 444 days, was all it took to label Iran as a dangerous country. All the students want was Mohammad Shah Reza to be trailed in Iran. Where’s the logic? Who is more evil, then? This is just Iran. It is little wonder, why Moslem around the world loathed and hated America?

Why nuclear weapon?

Thus Iran’s intention, if true, to become nuclear capable is rather not surprising. After series of harassment by America, Iran must act to defend itself. The outside threat must end. Iranians wants to be able to hold their heads high and continuing to prosper in their own way, without outside intervention. This intention was written in the letter of the late Ayatollah Khomeini, explaining on why he was force to agree to a cease fire with Iraq, at the time the Iran-Iraq war was reaching its stalemate.

Another factor, if we were to look at Iran’s location on the map, we will see that Iran is surrounded by nuclear capable countries such as China, Russia, Pakistan, India and Israel (a country that never admits of its nuclear capability). Thus Iran must be able to deter any threat from its Nuclear Capable neighbours. On this reason Iran feels it should have nuclear weapons.

If in the case of India, Why is the country of Mahatma Gandhi, decided to built nuclear weapon, despite strongly opposed by America? Plain simple reason, India doesn’t trust America. Also, they were intimidated by the fact that China had nuclear weapon, and taking in account of its past conflict with China, India had to become Nuclear Capable to deter the China threat. Pakistan on the other hand reacts toward India nuclear testing the same way, building their own nuclear weapon. So, Iran intention was logical.

Then again Iran’s ambition is not without opposition from some Moslem countries, namely Saudi Arabia. Not only because it is America’s close ally after Israel. The Saudis have been competing with Iran all this time, in expressing itself as the core state of the Moslem world, spending lavishly to gain the Moslem world support and respect.

Currently, with the spotlight is on Iran, the Persian country was seen as the new Moslem champion-the ‘One’ that dare to defy America. Something that Moslem all over the world was so long for, after suffering series of humiliations inflicted by America and her allies. On this is what the Saudi is frowning upon.

Others, Malaysia, to name a few, was with Iran all the way. It was Malaysia that lead NAM show of support for Iran. That is why Malaysian dignitaries was been received with honour and given guest status, when ever they arrived in Iran now a days.

If there is an action that should be taken to end this Iran nuclear weapon building by America, is by Washington starts to dismantling her own nuclear weapons and forces other nations that had them, to do the same. No nation has the right to say who can or can’t have nuclear weapon; in fact no nation has the right to have the ability to kill humanity in a single push of a button.
